STOP TIME

We were informed by Yves Doumergue that as early as 1997/1998, he had developed thread hook-ups to create a ring levitation effect—hook-ups very similar to those used to produce stop-time and time-reversal effects (the falling ring).

These hook-ups and methods were not published at the time, but Zack’s lecture “Study and Practice of Invisible Thread”, filmed on November 26, 2006, presents his version of the effect as well as the method that Yves Doumergue passed on to him in 1999.

Additionally, the effect “Freeze” by Hanson Chien, published in Thinking Outside the Box (2015), presents a magical moment in which the effect is a brief stop in time during the fall of a rubber band from one hand to the other.


HAUNTED DECK 

The uniqueness of this version lies in the fact that the spectator chooses the card himself from an unprepared deck.

The Haunted Deck evolved from early spirit-inspired animations into the repertoire of magicians through the work of Al Baker, Jean Hugard, Albert Goshman, Fred Kaps, Finn Jon, Bob Kohler, Jon Leclair, Nick Einhorn, Justin Miller, Danny Garcia, Michael Ammar, Yigal Mesika, amongst many others.

In 2005, Daniel Garcia released The Daniel Garcia Project, a triple DVD set packed with incredible magic, highly recommended.

In this DVD, he shares a linking rubber band routine that uses thread to simulate a penetration event.

LINKING RINGS

The linking ring effect uses the same idea. Most linking ring routines use an Himber ring and allow closer examination than those relying solely on thread (which allow the effect to be suggested, but not truly proven).

For this reason, we tend to present this version as an effect that happens by accident (victim mode). This approach allows us to suggest that the event occurred without having to prove it (which is not possible), and to move directly into unlinking the rings, “before it’s too late.”
