Time Stop

 

We were informed by Yves Doumergue that as early as 1997/1998, he had developed thread architectures allowing the creation of a ring levitation effect — architectures very similar to those used to produce time stop and time return effects (the falling ring).

These architectures and methods were not published at the time. However, Zack’s " Etude et pratique sur le fil élastique invisible" , filmed on November 26, 2006, presents his version of the effect, as well as the method passed on to him by Yves Doumergue in 1999.

Additionally, the effect “Freeze” by Hanson Chien, published in Thinking Outside the Box (2015), features a magical moment in which the effect consists of a brief stop in time, during the fall of a rubber band from one hand to the other.

 

Haunted Deck

 

The specificity of this version lies in the fact that the spectator freely chooses the card, from a completely unprepared deck.

Linking Rings

 

In 2005, Daniel Garcia released The Daniel Garcia Project, a triple DVD set filled with outstanding magic and highly recommended.

In this project, he shares a linking rubber bands routine using thread to simulate a penetration effect.

The Linking Rings effect is based on the same underlying idea. Most Linking Rings routines use a Himber Ring, allowing for closer examination than versions relying solely on thread (which suggest that the effect occurred, without being able to truly prove it).

For this reason, we tend to present this version as an effect that happens by accident (the “victim” approach), allowing the magician to suggest that something impossible has occurred—without having to prove it (which is not possible)—and to immediately proceed to the unlinking of the rings, “before it’s too late.”
